my friend's (hes 14) dad puts lotion in his mouth as a form of punishment is that wrong could it be putting him at risk i mean tobasco or soap is fine but body/dry skin lotion that could be poisonus right? and his dad could be charged for that right?
Part 2. all in all its crual and unusual and its not right but could it be putting my friend in harms way how would he show him its a bad punishment?

Nothing should be placed in a child's mouth that is not intended for human consumption. And using hot sauces on the delicate tissues in a child's mouth can cause nasty burns. Such punishments are malicious, meant to hurt and not to teach.
This father should be reported!

Whether it's tabasco, soap or lotion, his father should not be doing that. It could be seen as child abuse in the US. It's possible to harm him if he is allergic to some of the chemicals in the lotion, soap and we would have to wonder if it may be toxic if swallowed. A parent should be able to reason with a fourteen year old and not have to resort to such borderline behavior. I pity the child.

In the eyes if the law those are all considered forms of abuse. They can all be harmful due to the chemicals that are put in them. Your friend should do a little internet research on the ingredients that are in all of those and show his dad in writing what they can do.

There was NO bar soap or tabasco in my mouth as a child ever!...What happened to communication and /or other forms of constructive discipline?? A parent has to think pretty well when it comes to punishments and disciplining a child....in no need to recur to ..demeaning and awful tactics!

i could maybe understand tabasco, only because its a foodish type thing. but still i dont believe in punishment like that

why is it worse than soap? tobacco is not good.they might like it too much!
I dont think a little lotion is going to hurt him. what is he doing for this punishment?

I don't think it's going to hurt him and I don't think the dad is going to get sent to jail or anything, but it's definitely odd.

i am in the soap camp my mum used it if we blasphemed or used bad language i will be doing the same maybe they ran out of soap
