This is always worrying me because my Dad and his Mother always had heart problems and have both had operations throughout their lives.

All of a sudden, whether I am sitting down, running, eating, I have a sudden chest pain that has a long duration of about 15 minutes.

I am a healthy young man, who is always active and these pains really worry me, especially at 15 as I think I am going to or am close to having a heart attack.

Any experiences with you, or your children?

Thanks, I apreciate your responses.

P.S. Before you tell me to seek the Doctor, I am tomorrow. :-)

Don't wait until tomorrow. Have your parents take you to an ER right now.

Don't mess around with chest pains. It could be any number of things but don't wait. Tell your parents and have them take you now. If you are home alone, call 911. Do it!!!!

I have chest pains due to stress. I had tests done and nothing came up. I worried about it for about 6 months and finally realized if I was having a hear attack I would have had it by now, once I stopped worrying-the chest pains went away so now I have almost no chest pains
My 16 year old niece has chest pains due to stress and anxiety, worrying etc. The anxiety then makes the chest pains worse because it scares her (understandable) she has been to drs - she is perfectly healthy!
A friend has chest pains after excersize and they find nothing wrong with her
chances are its nothing serious but glad your going to the doc to make sure.
good luck!!

I am pleased you are going to have this checked out :)

It could be any number of things, besides a heart attack ,
you may have " scaffolding pains " intercostal neuritis
( Pain along the ribs ). Or even gall stones or a gastric ulcer .

Whatever it is,
prolonged pain is a warning that something is not right ,
and should never be ignored .

Your age and your apparent health otherwise, is on your side

i hope all will be better soon
good luck

Could be that it is just acid. You might even have a hiatus hernia which will give you pains very high up ( I think it's something to do with acid from the stomach being able to get back into the bottom of your food pipe). An ex of mine had it, once he knew what it was, he could avoid the worst (like sitting scrunched up after eating). Don't worry, at your age it's highly unlikely to be your heart.

I would try and stay stress free tonight, this is not neccesaroly cause by heart problems but to be safe if it does happen again then ask your parents to take you A&E (ER). Try and relax, stress is the worst thing you need right now. Other conditions which cause chest pains include:
Shallow respiration - your heart will spasm if you dont take enough oxygen, chest infections, viruses, acid reflux, stress and anxiety (panic attacks).

My son of 20 had episodes of chest pain for several years. he had an Echcardiogram at the hospital and was told his heart was fine and that he was probably experiencing episodes of anxiety. Have your doctor run some tests to rule out anything serious. I bet it is nothing serious. it may also be related to indigestion. Good luck.

My Dad had that when he was younger - turned out to be Prolapse Valve (search it on the internet). You will want to make sure and get a stress test done while at the doctor. That is how that one is detected.

Consult your doctor as soon as you can. With your family history they should take you seriously.

It could just be stress and you are worrying unneccasirily.
