To defend against a punch: You can duck, bob and weave side to side and forward and backward, slide right or slide left, move backward out of range, or move forward to take away the opponent's power.

You can block or re-direct a punch with either hand, or slip a punch by rolling your shoulder upward as you turn slightly away from the punch, making the punch a glancing blow off your shoulder.

To hurt someone back: If you don't have any fight training and you absolutely have to get back at someone right away, I suggest you look elsewhere for that information. The arts that the martial artists on YA practice took them a very long time to learn. You will not be able to pick up anything of use to you from anything we may write.

You should just cool down a bit.

Self-defense techniques:

5-count defense against hooking punch

This technique is a basic combination against a hook punch or other circular strike to the face. It first appeared in "FIRE Magazine" some time ago in an article written by Rock Dehon. It is part of a basic self defense course called Active Defense and has therefor no bells and whistles. The idea is to take the opponent out, plain and simple. Be aware that this combination might cause important injuries on this opponent. If your intent is to control the attacker, this is not what you want to do.

As your opponent strikes, you step outside in a 45° angle while raising both arms. The left arm intercepts the strike before it gains momentum. The right arm strikes to the face, using the fist in this case. Don't wait until the attack is close to you as by then, the momentum is too high to stop. Drop your chin a little to cover your face behind your shoulder. If he still powers through your defense, or your timing is a bit off, you'll at least have some cover.

Without pausing, grab his neck with your right hand while wrapping your other arm around his striking arm. Hit him with a right knee, in this case, to the solar plexus. A groin shot also works well here.

As he doubles up from the previous impact, hit him with a downward vertical elbow to the base of the skull. It is likely that he drops to the floor when you do this. If not, continue fighting with the following strike.

Shift your weight as you turn your hips into a downward circular elbow to the back of his head. It is a bit hard to spot in the picture, but I am still maintaining one hand on his shoulder. This allows me to feel a response from his part, before it is fully launched.

To finish the sequence, use you left leg, which is standing to the rear, to knee him in the face. Grab hold of his head before you do so, to increase the impact. If he is already kneeling or on his way to the floor, this can still be done. Instead of hitting upwards, use your knee in a forward strike.

As with all self-defense situations, try to avoid having to fight in the first place. If this is not possible, end the fight as quickly as you can. With some practice, you can be very fluid with this combination and use variations of it as you go.

With that attitude you will not be able to do anything, your anger and desire to hurt someone in self defense will get you hurt in the process. There really is no good way to take a punch, you just take it and try like hard to have your hands up at all times for a counter attack. You dont have to be strong in any way or know martial arts to know how to fight. Though yeah some are simply gifted at it, others need to be taught.

Me personally, I was always an excellent brawler, street fighter. I would take on anyone with the knowledge of how to use my surroundings, like if I got them on the ground I would put my knees under their armpits while sitting on their chest, this made it very hard for them to attack me while on their back, and also made it so that my dead weight held them down to the ground. Then I would put my non lead hand on their throat and just hold their head down while punching it from up top. This would make their head take two hits with my one punch. The punch from my hand and the impact of the ground, they would eventually just stop trying and beg for someone to stop it.

I also knew the best ways to attack their limbs making it so that they couldnt continue with an attack on me. Or how to not get cocky and let them stand back up. But I never went out to have a reason to defend myself, I let them come to me, and I actually would try to talk them out of it by saying I wouldnt fight or I didnt want to.

Most of the time they would instead throw insults instead of fists, and big deal they looked like a bully while I looked like a man who knew how and when to walk away. But if I did have to fight to defend myself I fought to make an example out of them so that another person would think again before trying to pick a fight with me.

Self control and knowing how to correctly throw a punch or elbow or knee is key to a street fight. Knowing how to use whats around you for your own gain is just a benefit that will make you look and feel like a smarter fighter. But never go out to hurt someone, wether its to pick a fight or defending against one, you will loose.

You are not talking about DEFENSE, you are talking about OFFENSE or as the lawyers like to call it ASSAULT.

Defending against a punch is best handled through avoidance, either keeping out of the conflict or ducking. If that is not possible, then protect yourself by diverting the impact.

Get into kickboxing or jiu-jitsu. Moving your head and circling oppenent is the best way to avoid a punch. If you cant fight and your sure defeat is evident RUN!

Three steps to defend yourself against a punch:
First - Dodge the fist that is flying at your face
Second - Throw a stick at the attacker
Third - Turn and run (I bet you run faster scared than he runs mad)

Your legs are longer than their arms. Every time someone punches You, You should have kicked them already. And P.S. the groin works just fine.

hit them where it hurts.

if you can't beat them physically. embarass them.

Use your brain.

ruin thier reputations.

make everyone think they are gay.

Pictures of naked men or a male porno magazine snuck into thier lockers or backpacks could cause such an issue.

get a handwriting sample and learn to write like one of them.

forge a fake love letter to the other one with plans to meet- maybe you can get them to actually meet at the secluded spot (when everyone else knows its secluded) with a few witnesses somehow.

stinkbombs are always a good one.
