Yes this can and does happen. Lamasil, I think it is called, one dose treatment works wonders. It is expensive, I think about nine pounds but it is well worth it. I have used it several months ago and have not had a problem since. You also need to make sure you change your socks on a regular basis, keep your shoes clean inside and dry the feet well after your bath/shower. You could also use a little athletes foot powder by Scholl's after you dry your feet. Athletes foot just loves the damp so try to keep your feet out of shoes and socks as much as possible. Good luck with the itch.

I believe athletes foot is a fungal infection. Normally starts between the toes because of the dark, moist crevice which is great for fungus. But it can spread.

It has a nasty tendancy to spread in places like communal dressing rooms and showers.

Thats why swimming pools often have a chemical bath at the pool side entrance.

Atheletes foot may not just be visible between your toes you can get it all over your feet. Its not just you feet that can get effected either (although if it on another part of the body it is often called something else ie Doby (sp?) itch) It is a highly contagious fungal infection and can spread to any part of your body that is moist or sweaty.

Yes it can. Buy some Lamisil AT. It will work extremely well on your athlete's foot. Below is the Mayo Clinic's article on athlete's foot. Take care.

Athletes foot is a fungal infection that can affect any part of the body that is sweaty, so I don't think you would get it on your heels. Go and show a pharmacist your feet to make sure that you get the correct diagnosis and treatment. It's more likely to be verrucas. whichever it is, it can't be pleasant, so please accept my sympathy :)

Yes, I've had that before. I remember stepping in a puddle with my shoes one day and next week I had pimples on my heels. It took forever to cure. I ended up throwing out a ton of my socks and the pair of shoes I stepped in the puddle with and that seemed to do the trick.

Yes. It's a fungal infection. Wash feet regularly, dry fully. Use LAMISIL powder or cream. Don't wear trainers-they make your feet sweaty. Have bare feet in the house

Its a fungus and spreads to all the sweaty places, including your groin if you use the same towel to dry yourself. There is a product now guaranteed to kill the fungus, used it and it works, sorry, cannot remember the name, chemist will tell you, it is about £7 a tube, and you use it once.
