Yup Craigslist is good. Also try Yahoo Groups.

Need a yahoo email for this.

Sign into Yahoo, go to the home page & on the left side, click on Groups. Then in the Search field (right hand side) type in the City U live in & the word " freecycle " or copy/paste from here. & hit enter. Look specifically for a group w/ the word Freecycle in it.
These groups r of people giving stuff away for free ~ ie clothes, rims, tires, kitchen items, furniture, U name its, etc.

If U need any help finding 1 by U, hit me up.

Well man, if your broke, there are a few ways to make a good fence....

You could use wooden pallets, take them apart and they are pre-cut fence boards. They are not the easiest things to take apart, but pallets are free in the backs of stores and warehouses and stuff. Also, a good thing about palets is that most of them are treated wood, thus resistant to rotting.

If you live in the country you could use wire and saplings to make a VERY beautiful fence. Pre-treat the saplings with water sealant like thomsons first though or theyll rot in about six months. This is a great fence, it's just important to keep it water treated, because the natural saplings are not treated. Use saplings of the same species and sise, and wire that won't rust.

The cheapest retail version of a fence I know of is to use the 6 foot Reed fencing, it is sold at home depot and lowes and is used for a garden divider, but it will keep out anything, because it's too fragile to climb, but too tough to push through. It's pretty, but it will only last you a year or two, unless you live in the desert, because reeds eventually rot away.

Last, you can get extremely cheap wood from sawmills and lumber companies sometimes. It is the edging that still has the bark on it from when they square off the trees, you can't build much out of the edging boards, because only one side is flat, but a fence would be fine. This wood is also not treated, so you will need water sealant on them too.

Try craigslist.com. You can put up a "wanted" posting or search to see if anyone in your area is getting rid of a fence.

Drive around your neighborhood and see if anyone is remodeling, they may be throwing away some good materials you could use. They will have to pay to take it away otherwise so they usually are happy to give it away.
