So my hair grows really really slowly and I haven't had a hair cut in 15 months..... I'm just now starting to notice split ends... what are those really anyway? why does that happen? Anyway, I was wondering how often you really need to get a haircut anyway.

I used to get it cut more regularly - it just never really grew fast. I think it's genetics. :) So are there any chain-stores to go to that won't charge me $75 for a trim? I mean I don't wanna go some place crappy that's going to do a hack job.... but I don't want to spend $75 for someone to not even shampoo my hair and just to trim the ends off.... oh btw - I also don't use straighteners, hardly ever use curlers (I used them every weekend in December for a play but I probably didn't use them for 8 months before that and have't used them since December. Also haven't died my hair - had a perm in middle school but that's been quite some time! So that's prob. why it hasn't been hideous and I've been able to go so long w/out getting it cut.... just thought I'd add!

Ugh I wrote died instead of dyed - I've never dyed my hair and I got highlights prob. once or twice back in high school - it's been at LEAST 7 years since then!

15 months?! Get your hair cut! You should get your hair cut or at least trimmed every 6-8 weeks, especially if you're trying to grow it out. Hair grows when the ends are healthy and freshly cut, not when there are split ends (which are pretty much the damage caused from heat from blowdryers, straightners, etc). If I were you, I would have your stylist trim just the very ends of your hair every 2 months.. that should speed up the process of growing your hair. Hope this helped! =)

gosh, mine grows so fast I have to have it cut about every couple months, my bangs about every 3-4 weeks. You should try eating gelatin or more fruit. You should cut your hair every 6-8 weeks and maybe that will start a better growth pattern. Hope that helps.

every six weeks! split ends are when your hair is dryed and dead from to much heat from straightners ect...! they will go away when you get your hair cut
