I have a Yaris Sedan, without power package. I chose this over the hatchback because the hatchback , to me, is just too small and very unattractive. Yes it is hard to find a Yaris with the power package. Overseas, power package is standard!
I too have never owned a car with power windows or locks, and can really do without it! Don't bother it's not work the extra bucks. You are really really going to be happy at the gas pump
though.

I had a tercel hatchback back in the day, basically the same car.

The only time I've ever wanted power windows is when you're in the car alone and want to roll down the passenger side.

Door wise: Do you do a lot of carrying of groceries or generally have your hands full? Opening the trunk can be a bother since you have to get the keys out to do it (not fun in the rain). But for the passenger door, it's a breeze.

Finally, have you gotten used to a remote keyless entry? I went from that to the tercel and constantly forgot to lock the door. And without power, if you lock only one door, potentially the two other doors are still unlocked.

Something to think about...

It depends on what region you are in. Most Yaris hatchback vehicles are rare to find with the optional power package. I'm assuming the hatchback is what your after because you can easily get it in a 4 door sedan form. Most of them are found in the CAT region which comprises Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Wash.dc, Virgina and West Virginia. I work for a dealer in the New York Region and finding one in and around the tri-state area is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Good luck with your search and yes, the power windws and locks are a worthwhile option. Think of is as a safety issue as well as convenience factor.

I think you answered your own question - why is it a huge deal to unwind and unlock two doors?!

There are plenty of 3 and 5door YARIS in Canada with and without the power package. We have YARIS CE 3door, LE5door and RS 3 and 5 door. And then we have the fugly Yaris with a trunk (sedan) that nobody wants up here.

Toyota those days are unreliable. My cousin has a Yaris, he offered it in 2008, it replaced into strong even if it had faults. undesirable brakes, defective guidance. Toyota called that automobile again to get it fixed. and that took 3 months for him

If you really want it then yes its worth it. It will cost you more in the long run if you decide that you really want it. I have the sedan and I opted out of the power package, got the convenience package (mainly for the color I wanted) and paid for Toyota to put in an alarm. I am happy with my choice.

Good Luck!!!!

yaris is bottom of the line toyota not many built with pwr options. you'd be better off buying a fusion or cobalt, caliber etc they all come with power windows /locks standard and you'll be supporting america not Japan.

The Yaris is the ONLY car that all that soes not come standard. You should seriously look into a better competitor (Honda Fit, Chevy Aveo sedan, Dodge Caliber or Nissan Versa) For the same amount of money you could get a good car with lots of standard features. Here is Smart Moneys test of small cars http://www.smartmoney.com/autos/newcars/index.cfm?story=december2006 The Yaris lost with 2 stars, Nissan Versa third with 2.5 stars, Chevy Aveo sedan second with 3 stars, and the Honda Fit won with 3.5 stars. They dont post the scores online, you have to get the magazine. The interior of the new Aveo sedan is actually pretty nice http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070218/COL14/702180672/1015/BUSINESS01 The Aveo is a worldwide player for GM, and in many places is a mid-range car. The Fit is a little nicer, but it costs a lot more and is more expensive to fix. My dad has a 15 year old Saturn and it still runs great, even within the last year GM has made strides in quality and reliability, and its paying off.
