I'm wondering if when couples decide to have children, they think about what will happen if they split and step parents come into the picture.

I think I'm a very good stepmom (actually - I'm technically not a stepmom - I just live with my boyfriend) but - I am really not liked by the biological Mom. Partly, my attitude is - "Well - I wouldn't be around if you hadn't left your kid's Dad when she was only one year old" (I came into the picture when she was two).

Are you a parent who has a step parent in your child's life who you don't care for - and don't want around your children? If so - did you ever consider that this scenario could happen before you split - and how much baring did it have on your decision?

I'm kinda in the same situation, but the father left me for another woman (just walked out one night and that was it) and I don't care for her and/or want around my child. I'd never thought he'd leave us but i guess nothing is forever but I didn't do anything to make him leave he chose to leave and he knew how i felt about any other person around my child so am i wrong for not allowing it and/or wanting it so since i dont that means he doesn't spend time with the child and/or pay support...so should i allow my child around his gf and have him pay child support and/or is that wrong too. To answer your question i dont think you think about it because at the time your so in love and you think and hope and pray it will last forever but one a party chooses to walk out in my opinion the party that walked out loses because they broke the deal...ya know..just one womans opinion in a similar situation...let me know what you think about my situation
