I know I shouldn't take medical advice from Yahoo Answers, but I need to know if I should be concerned. Out of nowhere, I noticed it feels like I have a lump in my throat, but I don't feel anything with my hands. But the sensation is there consistently, especially when I turn my head, I can feel whatever it is moving. It's around the center of my throat, and it's toward the upper-middle part. I don't have any other problems, except for burning sensations in my stomach after eating spicy/fatty foods and constipation/diarrhea. Is it cancer? I'm a 17 year old girl, I've never smoked, I don't drink. Help!

Are you having problems swallowing foods or liquids? Is it worse when you lay down or sit up? Are you coughing at all? Do you have a bad taste in your mouth?

You might be having something as simple as heartburn... or acid reflux... also known as GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)
This simply means that acid from your stomach isn't staying down in your stomach where it's supposed to. Some of that acid may be traveling up your esophagus after you eat...causing the burning in your "stomach". This burning feeling maybe be worse if you lay down after you eat.
The lump in your throat that you feel could very well be caused by the fact that your "throat" or "esophagus" is irritated by all this acid...when our body is irritated, it gets red and swollen on the inside, just like our skin does on the outside. The lump that you're feeling inside your throat might be because your esophagus is irritated from the acid coming up from your stomach.
Try an over the counter antacid... some that may work are Alka-Seltzer, Maalox, Mylanta, Pepto-Bismol, Rolaids, and Riopan. These are usually the first drugs recommended to relieve acid reflux or "hearburn". If these don't work, try Tagamet, Pepcid, or Zantac...but then go see your doctor not only because these are strong medications, but also because you'd want him/her to know you were having these symptoms. These medications will reduce the amount of acid in your stomach..
Last...do some research. Here's a website to start with...it lists some of the symptoms you described.
Hope this helps!

There are several possibilities. If your throat is infected it becomes very sensitive and you become very aware of the sensations of swallowing. Acid reflux from your stomach can cause irritation also. The thing to watch out for is 'Difficulty' in swallowing - like as if the food is backing-up or sticking behind your breast bone which might indicate a restriction in your 'food pipe'. If this is the case, then better to be safe and get it checked out.

Honey, I sure hope that it is nothing but perhaps you should go to see your physician to rule out the possability of any abnormal growth. That lump in your throat could be from your body attacking some foriegn body or infection. I must insist that you see your doctor
