I never heard of it, but wanted to give my baby soemthing without so many fillers. At the pet store i read the ingerdiends on it, and sompared to many others that are supposed to be soooo good, like Science Diet, it had the least amount of corn & animal by products. So as not to make my guy sick or diareha, i mixed it w/the cheaper food until i totally switch over...and he seems to really like the Felidale he is picking out those niblets first! Anyone else have any good/bad experience with this food? And i would also like to know if this is a recalled one too??

The only foods being recalled are cuts-and-gravy style, not dry food. If you are feeding your cat dry food, you should be just fine.

My vet recommended science diet, for what that's worth, so that's all I've fed my cats. I don't have any experience with felidae.

I assume you are talking about the dry food. Felidae and Canidae (the dog food) are considered top quality foods and neither are on any current recall list. I have used Felidae dry food, I also use Natural Balance, CA Natural, Solid Gold, Nature's Logic (for the duck).

If you use these quality foods you do not have to use just one brand over your cat's lifetime. Since you know to switch gradually with a new food you will have no trouble using more than one brand.

Even so, since you have a male cat (prone to have urinary problems with a totally dry diet), I suggest you start using some canned food with him. Natural Balance, Wellness, Lick Your Chops, Avoderm are quality canned foods and of course the Felidae makes canned too.

You might be reinforced in this by going to www.littlebigcat.com and reading Dr. Jean Hovfe's articles "Urinary Tract Disorders in Cats" and "Why Cats Need Canned Food".
