I had the same problem with my hitachi mini dvd. It records in mpeg2 format which is not compatiable w/ moviemaker.Go to this link and download a free trial to see how it works.Convert your cllips to avi. and your good to go. and for $29.00 its been working great.If i can do it any body can .Good luck

You have to get a dvd ripper and mpeg to avi converter. In other words, don't do it. It's not worth the trouble. Hope this helps!
