Ha ha! I usually wear my nightgown until my 2yr old goes down for a nap about 1:00! Then, I take my 4month old twins in their bouncies to bathroom while I take a quick shower. My 4yr old is pretty independent, so I just let her know where I'm at if she needs me. Then I usually just throw on a comfortable housedress or t-shirt & jean skirt! (I like to at least look a little presentable when my husband comes home from work!)
My husband doesn't quite understand why I love to dress up just to go to the grocery store! LOL
Oh, how funny, I had to modify this after reading some more!
My response is almost exactly like Bride 2....!
I have to add that, like most of the answers, I, too usually feel more prepared to face the day & get more done when I shower & dress early in the day!

I am not a stay at home mom now, but when I was, I made sure I took the time to wear what I would if I were going out in public. Jeans and a button down shirt or a tank top and t shirt over it....casual stuff. I tried not to wear sweats and pajama like stuff because it made me feel lazy :)
I found that if I did my hair, make-up and wore 'normal' clothes I got a lot more done and had more energy to play with the kids. It also helped when the kids asked if we could go somewhere (park, mall, store, etc) because I was already ready to go! Don't get me wrong, there were sweat and t-shirt days but mostly if the kids (or me) were sick.

I am a stay at home Mom and have been for three years and I have to say I don't even own sweats, much less wear them on a regular basis. I'm just as comfortable in jeans and a shirt. I always do my makeup and wash my hair everyday, shower at night. There are some days where I look better than others, but hey I have two kids to run after. Plus, it's one of the perks of being a stay at home Mom!

I will honestly say that I NEVER in my life wore sweats until I had my son who is now 10 months old. I stay at home and most of the time I am in sweats and a T-shirt or jeans. Though I perfer the sweats so much more comfortable when getting down on that floor to play with my son.
By the way if we go out to dinner or shopping or anywhere in public I do dress nice. But he understands what I go through in a day and has said he couldnt do it and doesnt care what I wear.

I find that if I shower and do my hair first thing in the morning that I am ready to go whatever the situation may be. I usually wear sweats and a tank top around the house but if I'm going to go out I will put on a pair of jeans. It makes me feel much better and ready to face whatever happens during the day.

I take a shower first thing in the morning and then put on regular clothes. If it's really cold then I'll wear sweats, but I feel better about myself if I look nice and wear a litttle make up. Besides that, I like taking my daughter out, whether it's to Gymboree, or Target, and I want to look presentable when I'm around others.

We stay at home moms have that in common. I wear sweats all day, it's what i feel comfortable in. Cause you have to deal with all those challenges, I think sweats are the best thing to wear.

I wear sweats until my daughter goes down for a nap at around 1pm. At that time I usually shower and get dressed in jeans and a nice top or something that my husband is going to want to see me in when he gets home. I think this is so important. I often see moms that have totally let themselves go and they think it's ok since no one but their husband and baby see them - but doesn't it feel good to wear nice clothes and to have your husband attracted to the way you look!

I wear whatever is clean and in the closet. :) I love to look sexy for my husband, but usually do this on the weekend. Weekdays--usually jeans, a shirt and sneakers. You know, you'll find that you're a lot more productive if you put laced-up sneakers on for some reason. It really makes you feel like doing more stuff around the house than if you just wear socks/slippers all day. ;)

A few days a week I'll wear my PJs all day. Yup, I get up, take a shower and put a brand new pair of PJs on. Hey, if I'm just cleaning and playing with the baby who cares if I'm in yoga pants and a sweatshirt. Right? :)
I try to put on "real" clothes, meaning jeans and a sweater or shirt, at least a few days a week however. I'll put makeup on these days too. It makes me feel better, more put together, when I "dress up." Plus, my husband appreciates it too. ;)
