My pans were handed down to me so I dont know if I can transfer them to the oven during cooking. They have no plastic, unless you count the teflon. They have a wooden handle and metal bottom with teflon coating.

What pans should you not put in the oven?

To be 100% sure, check your box or, if you don't have it anymore, the manufacturer's website. In general, oven-safe pans and pots are pots with metal handles, and, of course, cast iron. Those are usually oven-safe up to at least 400 degrees. Your pans can easily get up to those temperatures on the stove, and they're fine. I'm not sure if anything short of a nuclear bomb can damage cast iron pots and pans, so if you have one of those, you're set for life. Don't put anything with rubber or wooden handles in the oven, they might warp or catch fire.

do not put non-stick pans in the oven (unless they are new and marked "oven safe to XXX degrees"). its probably not a good idea to put pans with wooden handles into the oven either.

Ask your relatives...or look on the bottom.
