Pros: Meat for the hunter's table, population control for the deer so they don't overpopulate and starve and die of disease. Also when there are too many deer there are alot more deer/car collisions.
Cons: Can't think of any except hunting quotas - I've already had three cars involved in collisions with deer - kill more! And if PETA has a problem with that let them fix my car!

PROS
it is enjoyable to be in nature
it is good comradery with your buddies
it provides good hormone ,steroid, and usually chemical free meet
it keeps populations in check(predators are few and far between) reduses the population density provideing a healthy and safe habitat for animals and man

CONS
it can be(not always) costly what with equipment and time off work
it can be dangerous if other hunters/activists do not abide by safe gun laws.
some people do not like this pursuit and go out of their way to herass or otherwise inhibit the lifestyles of those that do partake in the sport.
it can be frusterating for some hunters aswell.
there is always the chance of taking a sick deer(if the meat is not properly inspected this can be dangerous)

One year during deer season when I was laid-off from work for more than 5 months (without pay) I kept our meat locker full with legally taken venison, wild boar and wild turkey. We didn't go hungry, but my kids tired of eating venison and pleaded with me to shoot another wild boar. With this experience I can honestly say, there is no 'con' to deer hunting.

Pros: Venison taste great. Fun the great outdoors. Good clean fun with guns.

Cons: Expensive, time consuming, PETA will want to hunt you down.

Pro's: tons of fun

Con's: expensive, or maybe you are one of those stupid people who are members of PETA and think it is wrong to kill Bambi

Good Luck if you decide to go

Also if you are educated you know that responsible hunting is responsible for 0% of threatened and endangered species.

Poaching is 1%

Pesticides 4%

Past exploitation 8 %

Naturally rare 9%

Controlled pests 10%

Competition with introduced species 18 %

Urbanization 54%

Notice There is 0% of threatened species from responsible hunting.

Hunting in general just isn't
as popular any more. If the
deer are left to themselves,
there is disease and starvation.
Lyme Disease is a big problem.
If they are hunted, the problem
is not quite as bad. But hunting
alone is not he answer. How do
you keep a wild animal healthy
after taking away their habitat.??
The government is killing thousands
of animals every year and shipping
them to countries overseas. $$$$
This includes Horses.............

Pros...

Without hunting, deer would overpopulate and die of starvation and disease. (Even WITH hunting, whitetail deer are dying of Chronic Wasting Disease, which is a direct correlation of overpopulation and starvation.)

Deer meet provides many needy families with excellent sources of protein for food.

Deer meat tastes good. :)

Deer hunters contribute MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars to State conservation projects in the form of liscence and permit fees.

It's a great way to piss off whining, crying, tree-hugging liberals.

one shot one kill, you hit off target on the first shot your going to cause the animal pain and suffering. thats a con. a pro is big meat for the price of a gun license hunting permit and whatever else you have to pay for a days hunt. i'm not a fan of venison its a bit tough, but to barter with say a side of venison for a side of pork i know what i'd do.
