important nutrients that must be included when you are preparing your dogs meals.
Protein – a dog’s diet should consist of between 25-30 percent protein. Meat, fish and cottage cheese are all sources of protein. Yorkshire terriers might also like ground meat or chicken without bones.
Carbohydrates – a yorkies diet should consist of approximately 45 percent carbohydrates. Carbs can be found in potatoes, rice, corn or noodles, which can be cooked with or added to meat.
Fats – these are the main source of energy for a dog, however their diet should only contain about 5 percent. Fats are present in meat but a teaspoonful of wheat-germ oil could also be added to a home-cooked meals. Also please keep in mind that young dogs that get a lot of exercise may need slightly more fat than old dogs.
Vitamins, minerals and trace elements – these need to be added to every dogs meal. Commercial supplements are readily available.

I know of the BARF diet - Bones and Raw Foods - but I don't know about cooking an actual meal. You might want to look into freeze dried foods available from specialty pet food makers - the ingredients are 100% human grade and are meeasured out and frozen. This is a cheaper and EASIER alternative to cooking for your dog every night.
Cooking meat really isn't that good for your dog and dogs shouldn't have intact veggies - they should always be processed to remove the outer cell "hulls" - think about a wolf eating a rabbit - the veggies he gets are from the rabbits tummy - already digested.

Hi my name is Lisa Andseron I feed my dogs a cooked diet most people call it a "raw diet" . There are many thing you need to know to start a "raw diet" and the easy wasy to prepair and store you dogs food. There are a few food that are bad for dogs please trust me on this Onions, Broccli, Turkey, Pork, chocolate, foods that are high in salt, and foods that are high in sugars.
Now that we have that out of the way. Here are some thing that a great to add to your dog diet. This is a list of supplements you will need to feed to insure that there getting all they need form there diet. A multi vit for dogs make sure that the vit contains calcum and phosphrus , cod liver oil-(fish oil, or flax seed oil.) you dogs should get these once daily with a meal. Now here comes the fum stuff since you have small dog you could cook a weeks worth of food at once. You will proably be feeding about 1/2 cup three times daily. So you will need to cook about 4 lbs of bonelnes skinles chicken. or lean beef (cut in to small pieces) after the meat is cooked it will be reduced in size This will yeald about 7 1/2 cups of cooed meat. Two cups of brown rice cooked. One cup of fresh veggied they can be blanched if they are frozenof if you have the time thawed. cook all of this in one pot cook you meat first and then cook the rice in the same dish so the rice is allowed to absorb the meat juices(they like it ) after the rice and meat have cooled mix in the veggies Peas would proably be a great veggie for a small breed dog. Put it all in a container and feed her from that for the week. Then start all over again next week if you would like to give her treats you could give her a baby carrot or some beef jerky look on the package to make sure they do not use onion powder in the jerky fruit (bannas and apples are some personal favs at my house) and veggis can give as treats. Hope this Helped.

You should keep feeding her dog food. Make sure the food says it's "Complete and balanced." That's really the best thing for dogs. If you cook them food, they most likely won't be getting all the nutrients they need.
However, supplementing dog food is good for dogs. You can cook eggs or any kid of meat. But fruits and veggies are also good for them!
I also put Safflower Oil on my dog's foods. It's very rich in Vitamin E, which is excellent for both humans and dogs and will make your dog's coat shiny.
If you're concerned about the safety of dog food and must cook for her, you really should consult with a veterinarian to make a schedule of meals for your dog. Dogs need special nutrients, and it will be difficult for you to get it right without professional help.

OK i feed barf (bone and raw food) it is way healthier than kibble. first off beef, lamb, and chicken are the main meats pork is not recommended. always serve the meat, veggies, and fruits raw cooking will get rid of all of the nutrients. same with the bones you never want to cook the bones cooked bones of any kind will splinter. raw chicken bones are fine when they are raw they do NOT splinter use the necks, wings, and the backs are the best. you need to add so supplements to your dogs food to the link below will explain. only feed organs like hearts kidneys livers once to twice a week can cause loose stools. always blend your veggies to crush the cells so the the dog can digest to get all of the nutrients.

It is very hard to cook for your dog, they have different nutritional requirements than people do. You have to make sure that everything is balanced properly in order to make sure your dog is healthy and getting everything they need on a daily basis.
Last time we were at the vet, she said some of their biggest customers were people who were cooking for their own pets. The unbalanced diet has been causing all sorts of ear and coat problems at very least. You should talk to your vet or if you are really stuck on the idea, check out a site like this.

i cook for my dog nearly every day. but i do keep a tray of Cesar in the fridge just in case, for emergency's.i cook her meat for about 1and 1/2 Min's in the microwave and add a few veggies. i am lucky my dog will eat anything i do. my dog is a Yorkie and they are known to be fussy eaters.sometimes she will have a minced beef and veg, pie. we tend not to give her sausage as she hides it and finds it again about 2 weeks later if we haven't come across it and binned it first.chicken is good as is rabbit . dont ever give your dog anything with small or brittle bones in it.
