I was watching "Who's Wedding is it Anyway?" and there was an east asian couple who's origins are in India but they are both first-generation americans. They had this elaborate pre-wedding ritual/ceremony and it was bright and beautiful.

The week/day after (I'm not sure) the pre-wedding ritual/ceremony, they had an American wedding. (as well as a reception.)

And I was curious if I could have something like that even though I'm not east asian.

I'm a little confused. Do you mean South Asian? East Asian usually refers to Chinese, Japanese, Korean (with different wedding rituals) - but you mentioned Indian origins.

Anyway, it IS your wedding so technically you can do whatever you want- however there is a lot of symbolism that goes along with weddings and if you choose to have one that's from a different culture than your own you might not understand what you're doing. I guess you could always research it further. People might look at you a little oddly, but noone's stopping you from having your special day.

You can have whatever you want. Just call it a theme wedding.
