After scanning a few answers today, I have noticed that a lot of people will look the other way if a beautiful tattooed woman happened by. I wonder, does narrow mindedness hurt?

i belive it must. my brain would hurt from trying to come up with negative things to say. shallow minded people are always on the offensive and constantly have to think about what "smart insightful (hurtful)thing to say." ha ha. got to make themselves feel better about all their insecurities. and all the things they are afraid to try, do, or see. i absolutely adore suicide girls because those girls are beautiful and they have the added bonus of some beautiful artwork. love tats.......

Yes I'm glad you guys are here for me. I doubt I could ever get a serious answer out of anyone in P&S where I used to go before I stumbeled across the tattoo category. Sometimes I just wish we could kick all the idiots off of answers forever because they get on my last nerve but that's my only complaint. I think it would suck to be narrow minded I lost a lot of friends over the years because of their narrow mindedness but their loss. Oh and there is nothing more sexy to me then a guy or girl all tatted up, especially sleves they just do something to me :)

Narrow mindedness - I'll bet people just don't know what they're missing. Maybe it's a misplaced sense of "what's right" or something.

On community - definitely glad, but we shouldn't think of ourselves as so outnumbered. That's an illusion the small-minded want to force on the inked & ink-friendly.

This last weekend I passed up an opportunity to get more ink on my piece so that I could attend a bellydance festival my gf & her troupe were in. For a moment I thought I'd walked into a tattoo convention! Easily one in four folks there - dancers, vendors, attendees - was sporting visible ink (and some damn cool piercings). In one group's performance, Fat Chance Bellydance from San Francisco, 5 of their seven members had non-trivial art. The remaining two had the decency to cover up a bit with henna. :)

Oh yeah, and they were good dancers too.

Tash_pot needs an *** beating. I am catholic/christian, no matter what I put on my body I am a good person and will be seen as that. I went to a private christian college and people there where more accepting and less judging than you. Now how does that look in the eyes of God?

I love my tattoos and everyone elses. They each have a story to tell or a fun experience.

I have tattoos and don't see anything wrong with them but I am a "tainted" source because I was exposed to them my whole life. I think allot of controversy comes from a persons up bringing. Allot of people see them as an act of rebellion. Personally I think tattoos are very symbolic about your own life and all the experiences you went through at one point or another. Tattoos are a piece of the person, a birth mark in a sense.

I am a woman that is SO glad that the tattoo community exists! I love my tattoos, plan on getting more too. I've seen a lot of the narrowmindedness though. People look at me as if I am an alien when they see me walking around with my kids, and have even heard comments made to my kids like "didn't your mother know better than to do that to herself?Shame on her for setting a bad example for you girls." Makes me angry I'll tell you that much!

Yes , I am grateful and appreciative of tattoos, they are expression and art, and can't wait to get my next one.I am sure narrow mindedness is painful in some way, especially to the person who has that , narrow minded people are lacking in intelligence, and I feel badly for their loss.

If you take those actions when coming upon a person with a tattoo, you are potentially losing the given opportunity to speak to someone or associate with someone that can be very enriching to you personally. By making the assumption that a person is a certain way based on their appearance, one would be very narrow minded and create increased ignorance among society in general. So yes, it hurts both the individual and potentially society itself to a degree.

I am glad that the tattoo community exists (or at least our little corner of it)....as for looking the other way if a beautiful tattooed woman happens by.......that would depend on if I were alone or with my wife......

I know which side my bread is buttered on....and the couch doesn't sleep worth a damn.

I am a college kid and live in a college town. You would think that would be an open-minded kind of environment but the majority of people around here look the same, dress the same, and act the same. I feel out of place sometimes but I can always count on feeling at home when I go get a tattoo. :)

Hell Yeah! Tats are a form of personal expression that are seen unlike plastic surgery which is hidden.. I am not knocking plastic surgery but it is much more acceptable in the mainstream of society then tattoos are. I am lucky though, I have visable tattoos that I am proud of. Narrow-mindedness is curable.... I have hope! :-)
