He was talking about the soldiers who spit on Him, mocked Him, whipped him, stabbed and crucified Him.

There's a couple reasons He died...

1) Politically- The Jewish leaders felt threatened by His claim to be the Son of God. They were so caught up in the status and power that they were unwilling to accept that there was someone out there that was bigger and more powerful than they. The reason the Romans got involved at all was because even though the Jews had been given pretty loose a reign on their own affairs, the Romans had reserved the legal right to mete out capital punishment.

2) His death was required by the laws of nature to overcome mortality. There are two things that stand in the way, between us and returning to God- sin (the knowing disobedience to God's commandments) and death (the separation of body and spirit at the end of mortal life). Jesus overcame death after He died, when He rose from the grave. That morning, Mary went to look for his body to finish the embalming processs, and found that it was not needed. Jesus came to her and told her that death was no longer a permanent state, that all mankind would rise from the grave eventually.

Jesus didn't break any laws- man-made or otherwise. The Jews felt he'd broken their law against blasphemy because He said He was the Son of God and they were unwilling to accept the truth.
As CS Lewis said, "Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic or the Lord."... If Jesus had NOT been the Son of God, the Jews would have been correct- He would have been guilty of blasphemy. But He was in fact the Son of God, the promised Mesiah, and He wasn't lieing about who He was.

He was talking about everyone who went against Him and brought the charges against Him, along with them that condemned Him and put Him to death. He hadn't committed any sins, or broken any law that was punishable by roman law. That is why Pilate washed his hands of the whole thing. He was giving it back to the people, because he didn't think Christ was guilty of anything punishable by death.

He did die for us, but it wasn't for our sins. It was to be able to allow us to live again.

He did die for our sins. Jesus died for the sins of this world. He was asking his father to forgive the people whipping and persecuting him cause they did not know what they were doing and who he is. They did not know who he was and that he was the king of kings. That is what is so wonderful, he still loved the people who had 100% hate for him. They crucified him cause he said he was the Son of God which he was. Pilate didnt even want to kill Jesus he wanted to set him free because he knew that he had done nothing wrong worthy of being put to death. He only put him to death cause the croud continued to shout for Barabbas to be set free and he gave into their request (Luke 23:20-24).

He was talking to his creator, Jehovah God. He who sent Jesus to earth to show human beings the way and path to God. Jesus resisted all temptations from the Satan and showed astonoshing integrity to God, his father. When Jesus died without sin, it was the biggest victory and Jehovah resurrected him and gave him kingship and now Jesus sits by his father in heaven.

Edit:

I think during Jesus death, there was a lot of hysteria. You can imagine that Satan and millions of demons where there witnessing his death, probably creating disorder and confusion. Although Satan and his demons where invisible to humans, Jesus must of know he was there. Jesus was probably asking God not to condemn the roman soldiers who put him to death because they did not really know what was going on.

It must have been a scary moment. How incredibly brave Jesus must have been.

He did die for our sins. He could have freed himself, but as a mortal he could not escape his captors. All of this was what God had knew would happen, but also knew that Jesus would rise in spirit and return to Heaven. the whole ordeal was with a point.

What law did He break? If you read in the Bible the trial of Jesus you will remember that Pontius Pilate said, " I find no fault in this man". If the man who tried him could not find any fault in him how is it that you 2000 years later can say that he broke the law?

I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about. Jesus did die for our sins. Jesus hadn't broken any laws, they just assumed he had. When Jesus said "forgive them father" he was talking about the people persecuting him and the deeper meaning is he is refering to all of us.

Jesus was talking about the people that did'nt believe He was the son of God, the people that killed him because they did'nt know any better. Jesus did die for our sins, at any point in time he could've chosen not to. He knew what He had to do and He did it for you and me and you should thank him for that!

He was talking about the people who were killing him. We too can often say this about the people around us. Most people would do the loving and right thing if only they knew what it was. Sometimes they don't know what they are doing.
