Do you believe that some sorts of music are unholy by nature? Heavy Metal, Rap. Hip Hop, Country... do you dislike or mistrust some music based on your faith?

Music, like anything else, can be used for either good or bad. Because of my faith, I try to avoid certain types of songs. I wouldn't presume to lie and say I don't listen to music, but I'm careful about what I listen to when I do. I usually read up on an artist suggested to me before listening. I stay away from videos most of the times.

Absolutely not! There are types of music that I do not enjoy, but for me to say "God doesn't approve of this music" would be insolent. If the Bible teaches to "be all things to all people, that some might be saved" then that tells me to accept heavy metal so that I have a bond with people into heavy metal, may build a good name with them, and that some of them might come to know the love of God. The beats/instruments have nothing to do with good or evil. What matters more are the lyrics, and what matters most is the spirit of the person performing the music. A person playing praise songs "because they sell" but inwardly is laughing at the music because he can't believe people are listening to this stuff is far less honoring than a person with a thick goatee, screaming about how they have "slaughtered their inner man, left the bleeding carcass on the cross to be redeemed by his Lord" while just trying to give their testimony. Music is music...it can be painted good or evil.

I think that some of the music has evolved with the world's morals. The beat and rythm may be enjoyable, but the lyrics would make you gasp for air!

By nature, I'd say heavy metal and rap are two of the ones that are really entangled in either devil worshiping or loose conduct - immorality. So I try to refrain from listening to them.

I think any genre of music can be used to praise God. It's the lyrics that dictate the meaning of the song. I think you can have a good rockin' praise tune. After all, "why should the devil have all the good music?!"

Yes, I do agree with your question......Most music is not pointed towards the glory of God.....You know by nature what they are.....
