Whoever referenced Matthew 10:34... that means that when someone would follow Jesus that would cause people to be violent, not peaceful... it will turn people from their families... this was the cost of following Christ.... but surely that person, if He is faithful will have be saved... and I said this to say, this is not Jesus promoting violence.

I don't think he did anything, I think Paul made the whole NT up from stories he and his buddies compiled about a fictional character.

You're kidding right?

This is in Matthew

10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

10:15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Okay, how about Mark

7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

But you're right, none of that is violent or anything.

I think the violence people usually talk about is commanded by Yahweh, not Jesus. I don't think I've heard anybody claim Jesus encouraged violence.

Matthew 10:34
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

jesus didn't promote violence. the only time he exhibited anything like it was when he got pissed about the money changers in his papas house. that was some righteous anger.

i think if people would pay more attention to jesus' words and actions and forget the rest of the stuff in the bible...this would be a much better world.he was all about acceptance, love, and forgiveness.

Mark

6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

Luke

19:22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
19:23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

There you go.

You're welcome.

I have never heard of such information. The only thing I ever heard of was when Christ was angry because the people turned the temple into a gamling arena. He did get angry then, but that is something that is valid to be angry at.

On the contrary, Matthew 26:52 says, "Then Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword." "
