Like they say above, it is located between Fuzhou and Xiamen. Fuzhou, the capital of the Fujian province, is the closest major city. However, Putian is NOT a small city like everybody thinks (a small city by China's standards), it's not a quiet little port but a sprawling coastal municipality of almost 3 million people. It's actually pretty nice, with some good beaches to the south towards Xiamen, but in my opinion not as pretty as Xiamen or Quanzhou.

Putian is on China’s south east coast, and the exact location is just like earlier answers said.
Here are more details: SOS Children's Village Putian was the seventh SOS Children's Village to be built in China and the first children moved in during 2000. Many people in Putian live on the bare minimum they need to exist – children are those that suffer most in these situations and many are abandoned.
