Side dishes are great...always welcome...fettacini alfredo, baked beans, broccoli in cheeze sauce, or a fresh veggie tray. Or you can make a main dish like lasagna, or pick up 20 pieces of fried chicken at the deli or KFC.

Ask the group coordinator what is needed and bring that. If you are told to bring dessert, supply pre-portioned items like cookies, brownies, cut fruit - it will make service easier, if a side dish a nice veggie casserole or salad, main course bring a chili or baked chicken.
Pot lucks are simpler if everyone has an assigned course and qty to feed. Good Luck!

Some kind of pasta salad would be good.It goes with about anything and you can pick it up at a deli or it's easy to make yourself,(Suddenly Salad).Macaroni & cheese is good as well. Both of these are liked by most. What have the others been bringing and did you notice if their was a favorite that you could complement or an entree that you could bring since it's your first time?

It depends on what course you aggreed to bring and how formal the occasion is. Snack food you could bring finger fruits, meats, cheeses, even crackers and chips depending on how formal this is.
Meals you can bring a nice salad, or potato salad... etc... You could do chilis, casseroles, desserts, cookies.
The dishes should be easy to transport. Recipes don't have to be fancy but handed down recipes are a good thing.
