Traditionally the loving-kindness and insight meditations should be somewhat inseperable; the goal of insight/mindfulness is to recognize the nature of existence, which is that everything is impermanent and everything therefore dies, which leads to suffering. The loving-kindness meditation then, is a result of realizing all beings suffer because of the nature of existence, and therefore need loving-kindness and compassion.

Oh, I thought you said medicate. I can't help you with meditating....well, I would guess that you just clear your mind first, and don't think about any emotion.

I am not Buddhist, but I think the purpose is to make you more loving and aware and living in the here and now.

I meditate on Jesus. He puts that peace, and love in my heart.
