Masturbation is normal. Unfortunately christians generally consider it a sin. Somehow the sin of Onan has been transformed by people who don't want to admit his real sin. Onan sinned by not impregnating his dead brother's wife as the bible required him to do. So Onanism is not spilling your seed, it's not having sex with your brother's widow.
