We crate trained both of our dogs from day one. They do have to be taken out more when they are smaller. The best thing to remember is that EVERY time the puppy drinks or eats, they will need to go outside. Usually within 15 minutes. Then when the puppy does something out there, immediately give them a treat and praise. Your pup will be house trained in no time.
They do not like to "go" where they sleep, so she will try and hold it. So you need to remember to let her out of the crate a little more often until she is older.

Crate train right away, but make sure you don't leave her in there for too long. You still have to make many trips outside, but the crate will control her a little better. The pup needs to go out about every hour or so for a while.

Yes crate train and all other training right away. People make the mistake of treating the puppy like a baby. It isn't. A mother dog starts training the puppy at birth, and you should to. A calm assertive leader is what your dog WANTS. Exorcise, discipline and affection in that order are the best things you can do for your dog. A dog wants to be told what to do, it wants to be led. You are the pack leader now. Lead and he will follow and be happy for your guidence. As for peeing all the time......yep but isnt that puppy breath worth it!!

Crates are wonderful. But a 7 week old nor a 9 week old puppy have bladder control yet. It takes a few months.
My puppy would have wetting accidents in her crate up to the age of 8 months. I believe she did it out of anxiety over me leaving her.
Just continue to take the pup out a million times a day and before you know it your pup will be house broken.

I was told that you can put them in a crate but have a puppy pad in the back of the crate away from their food until they are a little older. They can hold it for a little while, but thats it. They are use to waiting until they get away from the litter to go.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL3F7
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

crate training is fine....just don't keep them in their for long periods of time. It's good to get them in their so they know that the kennel is a safe place and they don't fear it. They also won't mess where they eat or sleep so if you have to leave them for a period of time longer than normal its best to put them in their kennel in the kitchen or bathroom with a big tile/linoleum floor and keep the kennel door open. Also my girlfriend told me that a good rule of thumb for puppies is that how ever many months old they are if you mulitply that by 2 thats how many hours they can go holding their bladder.....ex 9 weeks equals about 2 months so thats roughly 4 hours or so.

I started crate training my puppy from the minute we brought him home, just one day short of 8 weeks. He did fine. You might just not be able to crate him for longer periods because of his age, but no reason not to start now.

You can start now if you want, she will still have accidents but the sooner the better. Also, take her to the same spot outside each time. Take her out when she wakes up, within 10 minutes after eating or drinking. They say a pup can hold her bladder according to her age..ie: if she is 1 month 1hr...2 months 2 hours etc...be kind to her and please never raise a hand to her even a swat on the bum, be patient with her. Good luck to you :)

It's good to start crate training her but you do need to keep taking her out every hour, because, yes, puppies bladders aren't fully developed yet and they simply can't hold it very long. My puppy is 11 mo. and finally she can wait 2 hours before going out. It takes a long time!
