There isn't a non-drowsy benadryl. You can take sudafed with it to stay awake during the day, but the sudafed doesn't do anything for itching & it will keep you awake for sure. The prescription drug Zyrtec is non-sedating and will stop your itching/hives. Claritin is over the counter now and is also very good for stopping the itch.

Have you had the blood test to see what you're allergic to? It's called the RAST test and it'll determine WHAT you are allergic to, which makes avoiding the irritants easier.

In the meantime, do not use perfume or dye in your lotions, laudry detergent, fabric softener, or bath soap. ALL Free Clear is perfume & dye free so wash your clothes in that - it's the #1 recommended detergent by the Dermatologist Association. Downy fabric softener comes unscented & dye free, too. Dove unscented soap is mild and fabulous for us itchy types.

There is a non-steroidal lotion called SARNA. Go get some. They usually keep it behind the counter at the pharmacy so go ask for it. Slather it all over and get ready for ecstacy of not itching. Eucerin calming cream is great for skin that itches due to being dry.

First benadryl does not come in a non-drowsy kind. There are some other medications for itch that are will not make you sleepy. Have you tried meclazine (Dramamine), or the Avino products. You might do better to see a doctor. She/he may be able to find the cause of the itch or give you some prescription medication that will work for you. Good luck.

As everyone else who answered has said, yes it is safe to give your dog Benadryl. The general rule of thumb is to give 1 mg for every 1 pound of body weight. In your case, you would give your dog 45 mg. You need to consult w/ a veterinarian before doing this though. He may up the dosage or cut it back depending on the severity of your dog's allergies. You can always just call him and ask instead of taking your dog in, but I suggest taking him in for an exam to rule out fleas or mites. Your vet can also give her a steroid shot called Depo Medrol to help w/ the itching. Good luck and I hope your dog gets some relief soon!

I think that after taking it for a little while you will get used to it, I know that is what happened for me. Also, you could try Cortizone 10 cream instead. If that doesn't work either, then maybe you should see your doctor, especially if you don't know what is causing the itching. It could be eczema or something else, and the medicines you take could make it worse.

I have eczema which is a skin condition where it's very easily irritated or "itches a lot" so i use a lotion/cream. If you put a topical treatment on it stops it almost instantly and it's not going to make u sleepy at all. They have a whole mess of differnt brands and they all work pretty well. I use Aveeno

Maybe buy the Benadryl liquid that you rub ON your skin instead of the oral medicine. If you can get into see your Dr. he/she can give you the prednisone steroid stepdown pack.....that will end the reaction and not make you tired.

Try benedryl spray on! I love it, it makes you skin feel a little sticky, like bug spray, but you won't get sleepy.

All anti-histamines can make u drowsy. Although there are newer generations such as fexofenadine, loratidine, terfenadine etc. which exhibit less of this side-effect. What do u mean non-drowsy? As long as it has diphenhydramine, it will make u drowsy.
