I am 6 1/2 months pregnant. We are planning on painting the walls on saturday (well my husband is anyway)! Im just wondering when we should aim to have it set up with cot and bedding etc, is it bad luck to set the cot up too soon? Is it best just to paint and put curtains up? What did everyone else do please?

Some cultures have superstitions about setting up to early. The reason is that if you end up having problems and losing the baby, it would be that much harder if the room is set up and everything is ready.

If you don't share that superstition, set up whenever you want. I painted as soon as I reached the third trimester because i felt at that point, it was more likely that everything was going to be fine.

As long as the paint fumes aren't affecting the baby or paint contains lead. then any time after the paint is dry is fine. I'd suggest being gender neutral until after you know the sex of the child.

I would get it done as soon as you can, the farther along you get, the more tired and uncomfortable you will be and you may not feel like doing anything then. Congrats and good luck!

If you know what you are having then why not. The earlier the better so you won't be trying to get things done at the last minute.
