-give him breath-improving bones and treats (no greenies! they're bad for dogs)

Brushing their teeth really helps. It could also be your dog's diet. Some types of soft, canned food are pretty bad. There is also mouthwash for pets and Burt's Bees has a breath freshener for man and beast which can be a small help. If it is a serious problem it could be gastrointestinal disease.

Go to the vet and book him a teeth cleaning. It probably stems from tooth decay and /or gum disease. After 3 days, put him on hard food to help keep the plaque and tartar down. Chew toys like raw hide can help his/her gums. Brush your dog's teeth every day. Use hydrogen peroxide and water. May things go very well
