Why not?
Do people really think that being gay means you are going to have sex with every man in your barracks? Try again.
If you want to fight, then you should have the right to fight.

I believe that gay people should be allowed to serve their country. Once upon a time, white soldiers were uncomfortable serving with African-American soldiers, but once forced to serve together things worked out. Also, people in the military are currently serving with gay people. I know for a fact that several of the women I went to basic training and AIT with are lesbians, but it never caused a problem. They chose to serve their country, that doesn't mean they want to sleep with you. I say get over it, sexual orientation does not inhibit a person from completing the mission.

Gay people have fought in every war that has ever been, and they have fought in this nation's military from the beginning.
If gay people and women are a "distraction" to the heterosexual male soldiers, it is not their fault, it is the fault of the heterosexual men for not being able to focus on the task at hand because they are standing next to someone who has boobs or likes butt-sex. A true soldier and real man would be able to focus on their mission instead of who has a vagina and who likes kissing boys.
I have a gay friend who was an Army Ranger before he resigned from the military (with honors) to become a nurse. None of the men he served with had a problem with him because he proved himself a reliable soldier. Most of the people her served with knew of his sexual orientation and anyone who might have caused him problems based on him being gay were quickly "enlightened" by his fellow Rangers.

Where do you live, under a rock? FYI, gays have been in military forces for thousands of years. Even some of the top military leaders throughout history have been gay. Your sexual preference does not make you less of a military person. The gays I have been stationed with (and one E-6 U.S. Marine friend with 13 years honorable service) have all been top performers. That is not something I can say about some of the 'straight' people who have served in my commands.
What are we going to do about those ADULTERERS, those SECRET MASTURBATERS, those TOE FETISHES, FOOT FETISHES, S&M FREAKS and the rest of those sex nuts? Keep them out of MY military!

gays ARE allowed to fight in the US Forces now. And why not? If they want to make the sacrifice, let them. They are just as human as anyone.

omg, i don't understand how closed minded people are about this issue. if a gay man is openly gay in the armed forces, people just assume that he will screw everything on 3 legs and neglect to fulfil his duties as a soldier.
what a person does behind closed doors should have nothing to do with whether or not they should be allowed to serve thier country.

Not only should be allowed they should be required. I think every person upon graduation from High School should serve a minimum of 4 years in the military. Then upon completion the Government should pay for University if they deside to follow such a path.
The homosexuals are not special. They should be allowed to die in Iraq as well.

Yes they are the same as any straight guy...as long as they meet the requirements. Why shouldn't they be allowed?? I can't think of one reason. Who cares if someone is gay, if you don't like don't pay attention. It's not your life so what does it matter.....they are as capable as any other guy!! The question you should be asking should non citizens be able to fight and i dont think they should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot think of a reason why homosexuals shouldnt fight for their country, afterall they have familly too. As for the arguaments that they may be a distraction within the ranks; women and men are allowed to fight together.

Yes.
I think we need a special batallion of gays....call them the queen berets or something.
In our nation's history, we had a segregated military that was finally ended by IKE (R). If we had started out as a desegregated military, we never would have won Tripoli, Mexican-American, or Spanish-American wars. It is good that we are a desegregated military now. But these things should be done in phases.
Racial identity mattered more in the past. That is why the "Fighting Mass." regiment of the Civil War, the Buffalo Soldiers of the Indian Wars, the Tuskagee Airmen Corps, were all successful.
Let gays in their own batallion, division, etc. Segregate them from the rest, then slowly work them into the main corps of the military. It worked in the past, and there is no reason to abandon a successful past model.
