Because the United States, with all the outsourcing of jobs does not have enough jobs to support the number of people here now. With the continued growth at the rate that it is now - both legal and illegal - we, the United States will be a third world nation soon. Bill Gates recently spoke before Congress about his desire to have more visas given to those outside of the United States, giving jobs to those non-citizens even over citizens. The only one that benefits is big business.

Many of the visas given out now bring in people from other countries that massively undercut and drive down wages and benefits. Many graduates and people with years of experience are being bypassed positions in favor of 'cheap labor'.

The harm that it is doing to school districts across the nation is staggering - esp. in the southern states. School districts are over burdened by massive numbers of students that do not speak English and won't learn in English. English instead is taught as a "second language". Because of the lack of willingness to assimilate as other cultures have done in the past, this approach is causing a wide rift and discontent with those of different nationalities that if not addressed will result possibly in riots.

Preference is given now in many states to illegals over legal citizens with breaks in college tuition. Many of the less fortunate citizens of this country of many races are being forced to forgo a better education with possible financial aid because of aiding illegals. This too will cause more than a tad bit of unrest among citizen.

Those in law enforcement are not hindered from doing their job because of the undercurrent of a threat because of recent court cases and the end result to those within law enforcement. End result - crime is rising and will continue to rise till firm support is given to address the problem and enforce the law. When a two time drug dealer is given immunity over officers that were in pursuit of someone and shot them while they attempted to bringing drugs illegally into this country - there is a problem.

The massive damage being done to the environment in border states because of the massive influx on the United States southern border has cause massive problems. The masses of trash and debris along with the massive crime that those that live along the border have to put up with an a day to day basis is similar to what many see on the nightly news going on in war zones. This has already caused unrest and groups that are moving to force enforcement of immigration laws and immigration in general.

Hospitals across the southern border have been greatly effected and closing because of the misuse and abuse of the system. Many towns no longer have medical care except hours away. This is a problem that is starting to spread northwards with other states just now starting to feel the pressure.

It is one thing to help others - but it is to be considered seriously when such harms the citizens of the country. If this is not addressed, I have serious concerns for the United States not just as we know it now - but if it won’t in the future be torn apart by civil unrest from all sides because of the unwillingness to look at the reality of the situation and the effect that it is having on the country as a whole for it’s citizens.

If it were not businesses hiring cheap labor there wouldn't be such a big flow of illegals.
Problem is power and money, greedy people...
The laws are there, but big guys don;t want to obey them, they could care less, all they care is making as much as possible.

Illegal immigration causes an enormous drain on public funds. The seminal study of the costs of immigration by the National Academy of Sciences found that the taxes paid by immigrants do not cover the cost of services received by them. We cannot provide high quality education, health care, and retirement security for our own people if we continue to bring in endless numbers of poor, unskilled immigrants.

Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees.

Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland.

Illegal immigration is puts a huge strain on society. they come here illegally and is able to get healthcare and all types of assistance that our taxes pay for. they are able to get financial help which i find is ridiculous when there is a family struggling that is unable to get anything and yet this illegal immigrant family is. i work with this population and it makes me mad when they think that they have the right to makes their kids ill so that they can collect disability. i've seen it way to often, and its sad cus its the kids that are suffering. they need stricter laws and to reinforce them!! all this illegal immigration stuff hella irritates me!!

ILLEGAL alein criminals!

They are destroying America! They destroy our schools and health care system. They sponge off the taxpayer. Their anchor babies get welfare. They bring disease with them. They demand rights they are not entitled to. They steal idintities (a felony) and jobs that Americans want.

In spite of what some people on Yahoo say, THEY DON'T PAY TAXES but each kid costs $10,000 each year to educate. They can't pay taxes becasue they don't have a SS#. If they did file a return, becasue of their low income they would get an "earned income tax credit" (AKA free money.)

No Problem with Immigration, We have a huge problem with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ! One of the problems is it draining our Health Services and taking away Americans Medical dollars. And the SChools are filled with the children of Illegals, bankrupting some school districts cause the taxbase cannot support all those kids. Plus lets not forget the crime !

I guess the main problem would be that terrorists are paying $25,000-$30,000 to MS-13 guys to help them come across the border. Anyone feel like calling/e-mailing our well-paid leaders(?) as well as the White House. Homeland Security-it ain't happening HERE.

What might you like employers to do? hire inner maximum investigators to make certain if each and each skill worker is criminal?

Immigration is not really the problem. The problem is really illegal aliens, or more lack of enforcement of our immigration laws.

what is the problem?...we are letting too many in and we are letting any one in...you know what that does...that takes away American jobs...some one from another country can come over, take schooling, go back to their country, use that information and help them selves and that country...immigration should be watched better
