It depends on what format the photo is in.

If it is an uncompressed bitmap (.bmp), save it as a .jpg and you should get a decent amount of compression. You can do so using most image software, including Irfanview (see below).

If it is already compressed, you can resize it using Irfanview:

If you are using a Windows based computer:

1) Download and install Irfanview (a powerful image viewer) from http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm

You can choose any of the sites on that list. Click on CNET (Download.com) , for example, then click "Download Now," save the file and run it. Just keep clicking ok until it installs (you may choose to not install Google Desktop).

2) Open your photo with Irfanview (either open Irfanview and then open your photo or right click on your photo file and choose "Open with" -> Choose Program -> Irfanview.

3) In the "Image" menu in Irfanview choose "Resize/Resample..."
You can specify exactly what resolution you want, or just hit the "Half" button once on the top right. This will cut down your file size by a factor of 4. Then hit OK, and choose "Save As.." in the file menu. Enter the new name (so as not to overwrite the original file) and you're done!

you will need to find a software off the internet that can change the size of photos first! like the resolution once found, you need to change the picture resolution to 1024x768 (the bigger the numbers, the better the picture the bigger the numbers is also the bigger the picture is also!) and try converting the picture to .jpeg
