if you are lucky, you can find someone on http://freecycle.org to take them off your hands, there is one group that sends them to the Philippines for the school kids

With the exception of really old Encyclopedia Britannia's, old encyclopedias have no value - they are just out of date summaries of facts. Older EB's had long articles by significant people and really reflect the times.

Really, no one buys old encyclopedias. You might, if you can find the right market, sell them to a decorator for props in a room. Old law books get used this way.

I would say their value has long reached zero. They have no value. They are good for burning. Not sure they are even good to be recycled.
