how do you pay for it online and how do they get the dog to you?

You either drive to pick it up in person yourself or the seller ships it to you. The only legal way to ship a live dog is by shipping it on a commercial airline as freight. This is expensive, at least $250 (or more depending on the size and weight of the dog) and you have to drive to your nearest airport to pick up the dog. There are lots of restrictions, too. The dog has to be in an approved carrier, the weather cannot be too hot or too cold, etc.

By the way, be very careful buying a dog sight unseen like this. Many people have been ripped off this way - they pay money and never receive a dog. Do keep in mind that there are responsible breeders, though, who do sell this way so it can work out alright. Just be careful.

I would hope you ironed that out before you buy the dog. Usually, a seller will specify whether it can be crate-shipped (for a huge price tag) or pick-up only.

Most sellers online will accept Paypal, which you can pay for with a checking account or a credit card. Maybe even meet the seller 1/2 way if shipping is too much and they're willing.

About the SCAM scare, I wouldn't pay for a dog unless you met the person to see it. Then you're only out your time and gas if they don't show up. If it's from a reputable site, Like AKC or something, those breeders are screened to make sure they're legit, so make a smart move whatever you do.

Often they will fly the dog to an airport near you for an extra fee. But, I question whether you should buy a dog over the internet. Sure, the photos are cute. But, you really cannot judge the temperment until you are with them. And, it may be coming from a puppy farm. I recommend buying from a breeder with good reputation, preferably a show dog breeder. Good luck.

you have to be careful about purchasing over the Internet there is a lot of scams going on with dogs i would try to check them out first because you would have to pay for shipping the animal and this is normally ahead of time and then you might not get your dog

usually you used a credit card or paypal and have the dog flown in, however i would have a hard time bying a dog online unless i saw the parents in person once or twice, like at a dog show, you never know what yoru going to get and its not like you can see then kennel and deduce whether or not the place is a puppy mill or a backyard breeder

All depends on who you are purchasing it from. Many Rescue organizations have programs of shuttleing animals to at least your region for pick up. This is something you should ask the people you are getting an animal from. I would question the need to get animals from someone far away where there are many in rescues and animals in the Humane Society that needs homes.

I purchased my dog online 6 years ago. I had no problems at all. He was flown into Newark airport and I picked him up at the cargo terminal. I paid via a wire transfer, but that was before PayPal was as big as it is nowadays...

THEY USUALLY HAVE PAY PAL OR SOMETHING LIKE IT SET UP.THE TERMS OF PICK UP SHOULD BE IN YOUR ON-LINE CONTRACT. THEY USUALLY SEND THEM IN A CRATE TO YOUR LOCAL AIRPORT VIA PLANE. SOME PEOPLE MEET YOU HALF THE WAY.
THIS IS DONE OFTEN. I WOULD BE VERY CAREFUL. YOU REALLY SHOULD CHECK OUT WHAT KIND OF CONDITION THE KENNEL IS . IS THIS A LONG TIME BREEDER OR A PUPPY MILL.
HEALTH CERTIFICATIONS COUNT.
I KNOW BACK YARD BREEDERS SELL THERE DOGS CHEAPER ON-LINE.
CAN YOU FIND A BREED CLOSER TO YOUR HOME??IF YOU GET THE DOG AND TAKE IT TO THE VET AND THERE IS A PROBLEM DO YOU HAVE TO PAY OUT OF YOUR POCKET TO RETURN THIS ANIMAL??
SO MUCH TO CONSIDER HERE.
GOOD LUCK!
