It will be intersting to see huh? All we have done is dispose of a saddist dictator and his rule, and have provided the Iraqi people with a choice. They voted and formed a new democratic government, we are traing their troops for them to take full conrol, and the rest will be left up to them!

Do you really buy into that Bushist propaganda, that the Iraqi war is being fought for the sake of ending terrorism? Come on, man! the "war on terror" is a really stupid term, it means nothing, only Mr. bush could have thought of such a lame-aass ridiculous term. Every country in the world is every day fighting a "war on terror"; there's no specific act of war that represents it. If the US "win" in Iraq, that will only mean it will become a democracy US-style (like Israel, South Africa, Singapore), molded to the US economic interests. It will do nothing to stop terrorism, because terrorists were not, aren't and did not plan to be harbored there. US wanted to control the Iraqi oil supply, and it's having a lot of trouble achieving that, that's all. Yes, it would make MUCH more sense to use the WASTED Iraq war money to secure the US. But go tell that to Mr Bush and his brainy team of cronies!

If the US had the balls to stick with an idea or ideal for more than an election cycle than it will be a stable, democratic, friend in the Middle East. In fact if that was the case Saddam would have never started Iraq on this path.

But people want political gain more than stability so that won't happen.

let us see: ten years?

I see a Islamic Republic of Shiites, with hot and cold running
fanatics.

I see "The Sunni State of Ben Baghdad" with no running water but a new college: Osama Vocational Terror School.
Sadaam's third cousin Mustafa is running the country.

I see a secure Kurdish Homeland with border checkpoints that well has " No arabs-persians wanted" signs.

I see no "international airport" as no western airlines will fly into the place.

"A Goat for every Vote" will be the 2016 election slogan,
everyone with any education has left for America and such.

It won't be a country, that's the point. Yes, it will be a place of $#it, but i hope that we get a smart enough president that can get our troops (well, @ least the ones left) in 2008. i think that we should not have gone into Iraq in the 1st place, but now that we're there, and have tried hard, we need to get out, but keep spy's or something there so that we can make sure they don't try to come attack us.

the same as it was the day the united states illegally invaded it - a third world cesspool, except instead of an iron fisted dictator holding it all togther, it will be a roiling, blood gushing anarchy infested quagmire, even 20 years from now...

IT WILL BE THE SAME IN TEN YEARS AS SO IT WAS 100BC AGO WHEN THESE PEOPLE IN IRAQ AND ISREAL SHOT KILLED AND BOMBED EACH OTHER, THIS IS THERE WAY OF LIFE A WAY OF LIVING AND THEY KNOW NO OTHER WAY SO NO ONE CAN CHANGE THINGS THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOING ON SINCE BIBLICAL DAYS SO THE BEST THING TO DO IN MY OPINION AS A SOLDIER IS TO LEAVE IT ALONE, AND LET US TROOPS COM BACK TO AMERICA,.

Probably be like one of those old time American 'friendly' military dictatorships with death squads, political jailings, big oil deals and US military deals.

Sounds like Saudi Arabia and Egypt!

Either that, or Iraq becomes Iran Mk 2.
