Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

For most regular doctors thats a no. And as many of the above have said, go see a dermatologist. A great product for curing acne is Proactiv, I own a couple bottles and it works like a charm. It may not be right for your skin, but if you see a dermatologist they could tell you if your skin is proactive-safe.

probably not but they should be able to give you a prescription for a low dose antibiotic that will clear it in 2 weeks.

I've been taking my daughter to a dermatologist, all she does is look at her face and renew her med. any doctor can do that. i will get the name of it tonight and if you accept e-mail i will send it to you.

Yes, but a dermatologist would know more. A general practitioner would most likely refer you to a specialist such as a dermatologist.

It depends on their personal background, most HMO's have you see your primary first anyway and then refer you to a dermatologist if they cannot help. Try Proactiv it really does work.

absolutely. only if it's really really bad will he/she refer you to a dermatologist.

I think some people might disagree with me. Maybe I just happened to have a regular doctor that knew a lot about it.
