If you're talking about regular, plain-jane beer, Miller Lite. If you're talking about somewhere like Albertson's with a mild selection of imports, look for Bavaria, St. Pauli's Girl, or Hoegarten.

In this neck of the woods, we have quaint "Blue laws" which prohibit liquor stores from operating on Sundays and also only allow 3.2 beer (near beer) to be sold in grocery stores. Another quaint blue law here is the no selling of vehicles on Sunday. Car lots are closed.

Heilemans Old Style is made in Wisconsin, good beer at good price since they don't spend a ton of money on advertisements like the national brands.

Try the following, all under $8 a sixer and thank me later :-)

Killian's Irish Red
Hampshire Ale
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat
Newcastle (prob closer to $9)
Stella Artois
Magic Hat - Fat Angel, or #9

Or if you want to go really on the cheap: Honey Brown is the best of the cheapies.

I always go with beer in a bottle. It just taste better for some reason. Rolling Rock is really good and so is Red Stripe. If I am just going for plain old beer though you can't beat a cold bottle of Bud Select.
