I'm a guy with unusually thick and wavy hair and it's impossible to keep together. I was wondering if there's any chemical products or something that would make my hair straighter or easier to keep in place. Even gel can't make my hair stay in place for more than like an hour.

I also have very thick and wavy hair just go to a salon and buy a chi iron and the chi infra shampoo and treatment and a bottle of silk infusion- all this makes my hair hair nice, straight, and smooth.

There is a safe at home hair straightening product that is pretty easy to use.

It's called Phytospecific Relaxer. There is an Index 1 and Index 2, use the one that matches your hair texture best. I am filipino/hawaiian and my hair is thick and coarse so I used Index 2. It's a little pricey, $60, but definently works and does not damage hair like the drug store relaxers do.

I did a product review on it... check out my article on the link attached.

I would recommend that you go to a salon to have it chemically straightened. It's dangerous to try and do it yourself. You could burn all your hair off!! But I guess that wouldn't be as devistating to a guy as it would to a girl, so if you are OK with the possiblity of being bald, then go for it. Try Sally's Beauty or even your local drug store. They have chemical relaxers there.

If you are white (I don't know about African American hair), buy a home perm, follow the directions except instead of rolling your hair, comb it continuously for the amount of time the stuff is supposed to stay on your hair.

if your hair is long enough try getting a large round brush and a blowdryer when its damp put some frizz cream in (even if you dont have frizz it`ll help keep the hair in place) and blow dry it straight, when your finished spray a little hairspray to keep it in place. good luck!
