Why dont some parents believe their kids?

MY SONS GIRLFRIEND FINALLY TOLD HER PARENTS ABOUT THE SEXUAL ABUSE HER BROTHER DID TO HER. THE FATHER CALLED HER A LIAR AND TOLD HER THAT SHE WAS STUPID. HER OTHER 2 SISTERS ALSO CAME OUT AND TOLD THE PARENTS THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM AND STILL THE FATHER DOSENT BELIEVE THEM. THE MOTHER WANTS THE BROTHER OUT OF THE HOUSE BUT THE FATHER DOSENT WANT HIM TO LEAVE. THE MOTHER TOLD THE FATHER THAT IF HE DOSENT MAKE HIM LEAVE THAT SHE IS GOING TO LEAVE AND TAKE THE GIRLS WITH HER. I THINK HE IS IN DENIAL AND DOSENT WANT TO BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO HIS SO CALLED PERFECT FAMILY. WHAT DO TO YOU THINK?

You are right. He is in denial. It happens all the time. No one wants to believe that their son or brother or friend or uncle or husband could have ever have done anything so terrible... but they did. They brainwash themselves into believing the perpetrator, in hopes of somehow avoiding having to face the problem. It is really sad, but true.

The best thing that can be done is for the police to be called. They will be best able to sort through the facts and find out what really happened. It is the best thing to do for those kids. It is the best thing to do for society. If the guy is guilty, he needs to be put away before he does it to someone else. Anyone who knows about this is responsible! Don't be the one that let it happen.

I am positive he is in denial about this because he doesn't wnat to see his son as a sexual predator. Also another aspect that no one has mentioned is that he also is dealing with the fact that he may have let his daughters down by not being able to protect them. How could he know that this would happen though? Was the son molested at some point? That is one thing that increases the chance that they will offend on someone else. The family may not even know that he has been abused.
Regardless the entire family needs counseling.

I think he is in denial also. The mother should call the police if the father does not get the son out of the house. Who knows, he could be doing this to others or try it on some other little girls. The son needs not only to be removed from the house, but he also needs to get some serious help. It is hard for parents to see this in their own kids, but if he does this to his sisters, he will surely do this to others. Maybe a call to the police is in order to get him off the streets too. These parents should try to protect others as well as their own.

I would say... the father is sticking up for his 'own kind'. He and the brother are the only males in the house, and he probably just refuses to think that the only other male in the house (and his only son) is a sexual molestor. If there were 10 boys, and one was a molestor, I'm sure the father wouldn't have a problem with kicking him out if three other siblings complained of sexual abuse or harrassment. Men stick together, no matter what the circumstances. Kudos to the mother for threatening to leave, I just think that she should follow through. No child should have to live in fear of being sexually molested or abused.

To discover that your son has been abusing your daughters is a big shock and not surprisingly a shock one's view of the world. In a way believing that hid daughters are lying is the lesser of two evils. He can believe either that his son has been sexually abusing his sisters, or he can believe that his daughters are lying. He apparently has chosen to believe that the people he loves have done the least evil thing. Which is to say lying is less evil then sexual abuse.

I think that the mom and the daughters should back up their claim with whatever evidence they can. This will probably not convince the dad. Mom should then take the girls and go.

This Guy is sick, sick. sick. You should file charges. What your son's girlfriend's brother did is called rape. And according to the law, its a crime. Therefore, talk to a lawyer and straightened this out. I mean if her father doesn't believe in her than he's as much of a jerk as his son is. I don't know if its because his the only person with a penis in the house or his the Man, he ought to have done what he did. the guy has a family and he's doing that? Get help immediately. If he did it to her sister, he might have done or will do it to his kids!!!!

Sometimes it is a trust issue that maybe happened earlier in their life or other times it can be that sometimes kids get in over there heads and they are lieing. They just want attention. Ya know. I know something like that you wouldn't lie about but alot of kids now a days joke about that so...
