Cat or dog, tie (attach) the ring to their collar.
They greet/join you at the end of the aisle.

In the film "Meet the Parents" the cat "Mr Jinx" walked into one of the bedrooms with an engagement ring wasn't it, tied /attached to his collar.

It's your wedding, go for it!!!! I would however find out what the church or wherever you are holding the ceremony and the reception thinks of it. They might have rules against pets being in the building. This would be the only thing that might put a damper on it.

OK. A dog? A cat? My opinion on this matter is No! you can't have a pet as part of a wedding, let alone as best-man!!!
Animals don't even know how old they are, how are they gonna be responsible enough to handle a ring for just a few seconds? But since everyone is entitled to their own opinion I say let the couple do whatever is in their interest. Besides, its not my wedding, and I'm not a wedding planner!

You can't have anything other than a person as the "best man" at your wedding. The purpose of the best man is to help you get ready, make sure you don't run (or help you run if that's what you need to do), and sign the marriage license to make it official. You have to have the witness to sign the license.

If you wouldn't freak out (and the bride wouldn't, either) if the cat/dog took off with the rings, I guess you could tie the rings to the collar and have them waiting at the altar.... although I guess I have never had a pet I'd trust not to just take off running in the other direction at the most difficult moment! If you can't even rely on people to always be where they're supposed to be, just how are you going to be sure the dog or cat is right there at the right moment?

Bad idea.
If I were your male friend or brother or brother in law, I would be insulted that you chose a dog over me. Better to not have a best man or brides maids.
The only exception, and this is a stretch, would be if you were a vet or worked with animals in some capacity, then MAYBE it would be OK.

Lastly, Adam Sandler's dog was NOT the best man, he was the ring bearer.
If you want to include a well behaved pet, that would be the way.

Absolutely nothing wrong with your pet being part of the ceremony. One thing to consider, though is that the Best Man generally serves as a witness and signs the marriage certificate after the ceremony. I'm not sure a paw-print would be acceptable.

Other than that, I say go for it!

Get a normal man as Best Man and make the dog or cat a ring bearer.

Yes - it is certainly OK to have a dog as a Best Man. You will obviously have to have someone else sign the marriage license, but that isn't a stumbling block.

While not exactly traditional, if the pet is who you want as Best Man, then so be it. It's your wedding, and you should have it just the way you want it. You could have a collar decorated with a spot for attaching the rings. Just be careful that nothing happens to them while the animal's got them! ;)

Your idea isn't the far "fetched" as you might think.

I do advise that whether the ring bearer is a child or an animal, fake rings should be used and the real ones kept safe.

As far as Best Man, if you need witnesses in your county (don't need them in Ohio) that I doubt a paw print would be acceptable by the Court. :) Chose a human.

I thought about having our dog as the ring bearer, but I don't trust him enough to behave on that day. While you may believe your dog will listen, there will be a lot of distractions that could make him not listen as well as normal. Maybe you could have someone walk the dog down the aisle...than you are can be sure he will make it down.
