I get random spasms in my eyebrow every once in a while. I have a twitch currently, that's been around for about 15 minutes. It's incredibly distracting and annoying, but painless. What can cause these spasms to occur?

"It's not known exactly what causes the twitches, but they appear to be associated (although by no means invariably) with (a) anxiety and (b) some faint stimulus, such as a noise. The twitches have been induced in test subjects who were instructed to push a button whenever they heard a low tone. When, as usually happened, the subjects nodded off after a while--you know how exciting psychology experiments are--the tone would often cause a subject to twitch after a lag of a few seconds."
I hope this helps

Found on web-see reference -"In its simplest form, myoclonus consists of a muscle twitch followed by relaxation. A hiccup is an example of this type of myoclonus. Other familiar examples of myoclonus are the jerks or "sleep starts" that some people experience while drifting off to sleep. These simple forms of myoclonus occur in normal, healthy persons and cause no difficulties. "

I also found one about stress, others about brain damage etc - all examining worst case scenarios. But who's not to say that it could be caused by some "short" or "mis-fire"? Like too much or not enough of a particular vitamin or other bodily ingredient that tender little muscles like that respond to. I mean, our body has all kinds of responses (like sneezing, coughing, itchiness) so perhaps minor twitching is only a response to something that hasn't been important enough to deem research worthy.

A imbalance between nerves like a ground wire making the head lights come on and off.

It is a muscle spasm. I get them every now and again and they do make you crazy. I get them in my butt too.
