Time does fly. I'm turning 29 early November and I feel like the past decade of my life has been a blink. The number thirty sometimes scares me and I feel old when my body puts limits to my mind (it seems I can get away with much less physical or even emotional abuse than I used to be able to). I've sat down and thought about it though, and I've come to the conclusion that it's not really fear of growing old that I have, but rather fear of the unknown. How will things turn out...how will my life be when I reach a certain age? Will I be happy? Will I be able to do the things I love? Will I find the love of my life? Will I have kids? And more or less it all comes down to this: if you're happy with your life, at any point or age, I believe you'll feel content with time. Happiness and the conscious effort to attain it, hope and never giving up are the elements of youth. Self-knowledge and awareness, maturity and wisdom are the perks of growing old. Both sides are there for the taking if we only keep our eyes open and learn from life. Learn to love ourselves and others. If we let it all pass us by, we'll always feel we missed our train. Other than that, if you look at it objectively, 28 is young. It's not baby young, but it's adult young. 30 does come as a shock because the innocence feels so far left behind. We become more cynical as we grow older, the defence mechanisms towards life's little slaps rob us of the carefree mindset we used to have. But again, it just goes to show that it's all in the mind. I'm pretty sure, when you turn 30, you'll be sexy as hell, mature enough to know what you want in life, passionate and ballsy enough for the first time to go after it. 30 has a lot of strengths. Watch out for them, discover them. Lastly, taking good care of your body always helps. Just my alternative view on things...

beauty has no age limts and your not old it just sounds old compared to girls younger than you. Thank the lord your not turning 40 or 50 x]]] The entertainment industry does kind of set the standard for how we think but that industry is very far fetched. You have to be uber skinny and young. But think about all the young and beautiful actors around your age such as Angelina Jolie and Kate Winslet they aren't considered as old.

The entertainment industry only sets the standard if WE let them. Remember, YOU are the people they are marketing to, so if you embrace certain images (ie, Dove's Pro-Age campaign) over others (the Paris Hilton / Girls Gone Wild phenomenon), then YOU decide the standard.
Also, it's YOUR choice whose opinion matters - if you hang out with shallow trend-seekers who define beauty by age, then that's the opinion you'll hear... but if you surround yourself with intelligent, self-respecting people who seek beauty internally, or regardless of age, then that's what you'll hear.
I had one friend turn 30 last year, and no one was allowed to mention "30" or "old" or even "birthday" for the entire month. Personally, I prefer to celebrate life, so last month I gathered up a dozen of my friends and went on a cruise to celebrate our impending 30th birthdays this year - and the "Dirty Thrity" cruise was the most orgasmically fun time any of us have had in years.
So forget what other people think. Define age and beauty for yourself, and love life at any age.

30 is very young, you are just starting life, the best age of all is a woman in her 40s, as now with some effort, you will still look youthful and healthy, but you will have wisdom, that wisdom is priceless, and you will be amazed at things that drove you crazy when you were younger don't even phase you any more. Enjoy your 30s the best is still yet to come.

You'll be old if you allow yourself to feel that way. Age is just a number, look at all the beautiful 40-year-olds out there! Are you 5'8" and a pound over 110? Then society dictates that you're too fat, also! Who cares what anyone else thinks? I't a matter of how you see yourself.
