My puppy is a mutt and we think he may be part chow. He had mange, so we took him to the vet and they gave him all his shots. That was about a month ago and we now know that he and all of our other animals are definitely free of mange. He is about 15 weeks old. A few weeks ago he started losing his giant puff of puppy fur. He started losing his fur around his eyes and we weren't too concerned about it. Now he has lost his fur (not completely) everywhere up to just under his eyes. Why is this? Is he just losing his puppy fur? Or is it something more serious?

My puppy had the same problem. It was called demodex. It's a form of mange that is caused by stress. It starts around the eyes and can eventually lead to all over the entire puppy. He has to take medicine for 120 days and it's been about 60 and my puppy is looking much better. Have your vet test him.

My puppy did this same thing~he had mange, and once it was cleared up, he kept losing hair. The vet told me it was jus because the medicine that was given for the mange was too strong for him. I would say give it a month or so, it should clear up.

i agree with the previous answer. take it to the vet for a test. he's not juz losing its pup fur, it would not be so serious if it is normal shedding. so take it to a vet for a checkup.
