To point to imperfect human beings and say, "See, Christianity can't be true because these so-called 'Christians' aren't perfect!"?
Just as much as it is to point to them and say, "Well...they weren't really 'one of us' if they did *that*."?

Actually, people DO say it all the time. Hang around on these boards a bit longer and you'll see for yourself.
(Despite the fact that the question was hypothetical...) :-)

The same can be said for any religion. Every religion has those who claim to be that reigion but do things that are against the moral teachings of that religion We should base our opinions about specific religions on the teachings not on the people who claim to be followers.

Well first it's just totally moronic to expect Christians to be perfect b/c God didn't make us perfect. Christians make mistakes just as non-Christians do. Perfect example is me. I converted to a religion a few years ago and when my parents found out they tried to call me a hypocrite b/c I wasn't living the "Christian" lifestyle. Well back then and even now I am still adjusting and trying my best to live an ideal Christian lifestyle. This is why we are not meant to judge other people. Plain and simple.

Friggin copy cat...
Its not half as a cop out as claiming your a Christian and that ANYONE who says they are Christian yet betrays the religion "isnt a real Christian".
I never said your religion wasnt true BECAUSE youre all hypocrites. I simply said it was a cop out to say that bad people arent real christians. Stop reading too much into what I say - you sound like my fiancee - always hearing something I never said. Sheesh!

No one says that.
Edit: No, just the truth. People don't say that Christianity can't be true because Christians aren't perfect. They say Christianity can't be true because there's no proof.
Thats not a side step, its saying that YOU are wrong.

The disbelief in the existence of God is not based on the actions of anyone, however, the credibility of the religion the "Christians" have created around this God is.

Absolutely. It's just a way for people with no evidence or argument to manufacture it. This was the same tactic Hitler used to take over strategic lands or exterminate enemies.

If humans were perfect, there would be no need for Christianity.

Why do bad things happen to good Christians?
Does that mean that God has forsaken us or is testing our faith?
What a whack job.

It does not make much sense. The reason for Christ is because we are imperfect.
