Only Marines are not allowed to wear their Cammie's out in public. They can wear their Delta's or Charlies or even Dress Blues.
Edit: What I mean by public is by out in town. They can wear them at work and anywhere on base.

I was in the military many years ago, and was allowed to wear either the dress uniform or the battle fatigues any where at my discretion.

No. You are supposed to wear them only to work or for duty functions. Some flights to and from Iraq are required to be in civies.

They can wear them to and from post, short convenience stops, but they can't just go and "Hang Out" somewhere while in uniform, and Hazeltine, let me know what airline you saw someone get an upgrade on, that is complete BS.

Yes. They wear them in public all the time, because they love people thanking them for being such heroes, even if they've never served overseas. They also get free upgrades to first class on airplanes if they are in uniform.
