Who is lazier?

I've just seen this dumb statement "Atheism to me is like Laziness to really think. Call it ignorance of God or the willingful desire to ignore something that is so clear and hugely in front of us."

So who is more lazy? The atheist or the theist?

I can't say that either one is more lazy than the other.

The lazy one though is the one that believes, or doesn't believe, because that's the way they were taught.
It takes far more energy to actually find your own way.

I dont think that either are lazy in entirity. Atheists spend a lot of time bashing christianity but some just say, "I dont believe in God and leave it at that"

some Christians spend a ton of time praying and doing Gods work, while some jsut go to chruch on sunday or just say they are Christian and not go at all.

I would have to say Agnostics are the laziest, so lazy that they cannot forma an opinion. But of theists and atheists, I would have to say athiests, just because they are not so crazy about trying to covnert people and all this "You are going to Hell" and over preaching junk. Although that is an overstated gerneralization I admit.

Intellectually or physically?

Obviously, it takes some real intellectual laziness to chalk everything up to a man in the sky, rather than search for the truth.

As far as physically lazy, this Atheist spent all weekend playing God of War 2 on God Mode (ironic, isnt is?) And I beat it finally!

Depends.

In this country (USA), however, atheists and theists alike were typically raised in a church family, so it takes at least one step more 'effort' to end up an atheist.

Then again, you could define laziness as economy of effort and call it a virtue.

The theists and atheists that blindly follow what is told. It is those of both belief systems that study, learn, and use the beliefs that are not lazy.

a. read a book, believe every word of it, you're done. You know the truth, don't worry about anything else.

b. read a book, consider it, accept or reject it in part or whole, read another book, consider the new book, how it changes your view of the first book, accept or reject it in part or whole, refine perception of Truth, wash, rinse, repeat.


Yep. Atheists sure sound like a bunch of lazy bums to me.


And Universalist Guy, I don't consider agnostics lazy. If nothing else, they're gluttons for punishment... looking high and low for answers that they acknowledge are not attainable. ;-)

Atheists and Theists can be equally intellectually lazy. It depends on the rigour with which they reached their views.

As far as I´m concerned the theist is the laziest one because everything he is asked about he answers in terms of "faith": No much deep thinking about the matter itself.
"have faith" and that´s the end of the question.

The theist because they will not do the work to really understand the universe that they live in.

Lazy both/neither, ask yourself what is my beliefs & am I lazy? It takes all kinds on both sides of the fence.
