I feel that religion is outdated. I think it was a way for people to personify human morals and values. As an atheist, I feel that there is no rational argument for the existence of a God or gods. I also believe that the majority of people don't truly believe in God but feel obligated to say they do because it is more socially acceptable.

An opinion on Religion is simple. Most of the wars fought in the history of the world were fought over religion. I find organized religion to be a wonderful crutch for those that are week and need something to believe in. I personally believe in god but not an organized religion.

Here is a quote that best expresses my opinion on religion:
"A society is capable of surviving for thousands of years unless it is attacked from within or without by hostile forces. where such an attack occurs, the primary targets are it's religious and national gods and heroes,it's potential of leadership and the self respect and integrity of it's members.
If you look around you , you will find countless examples of these points. They scream at us every day from the newspapers and TV.
Probably the most critical point of attack on a culture is it's religious experience. Where one can destroy or undermine religious institutions then the entire fabiric of the society can be quickly subverted or brought to ruin.
For the last hundred years or so religion has been beset with relentless attack. You have been told it’s the “opiate of the masses “, that it’s unscientific, that it is primitive, in short , that it is a delusion.
The source of this kind of attack is always covert and hidden. It is promoted by a few who have a vested interest in a slave society.
Unfortunately these few rely on creating fear and insecurity in others
to forward and promote their enemy propaganda. These others feel correctly they have to defend themselves from an attack, but because the real enemy is hidden, they can be manipulated to attack what they really should be defending as they cannot see the real enemy.
The key here is that underneath all these attacks on organised religion there is one fundemental target:
The spirituality of man, your own basic spiritual nature, self respect and peace of mind. "

Religion is simply a belief in something bigger.
For some it is the religion of self. They feel that they are the most important and the point is to please themselves.
Most religions teach there is a high power out there somewhere that created us either physically, or spiritually. These religions can teach us to be better people. Their books are full of stories and parable that teach us lessons of humanity.
The problem with these religions is they tend to end up organizing people into closed off groups, that develop into a us against them mentality that can't help but spark jealous, war, and greed.
There is good to be found in all religions that inspire people to be better, to love one another, to respect others, and to care for those who can't care for themselves, but you can NEVER take away free will or becomes corrupt.
When you use your religious believes to take away the free will of others and attempt to force them to follow your beliefs then you are taking your god's name and using it in vain. That's not good.
Thoughts, feels, and beliefs are wonderful, and inspiring, but it's the actions that result that bear fruit.
The goodness of a tree is shown in it's fruit, and if the fruit is poison the tree has no place in my garden. If the fruit is good and wholesome then I will plant the tree in my garden and enjoy the fruit.
Find what is good an hold on it, and reject the bad. Build your own belief system (religion) based on the wisdom of those who bear good fruit, and show your goodness thru your actions not just your affiliations.

Religion helps people be at ease. It gives them a sense that somebody is always in control and that you can depend on God if you just let Him in. It also gives you reason to act with morals and do whats right, more so than if you had no religion.
Yes, it has cuased wars, but with the rise of secular states, these "holy wars" have become less common over time and have allowed for spiritual peace for the world.

Religions are okay, if you don't take everything they say as the absolute truth. There is, IMHO, some truth in all religions, but people get too caught up in what is the "one true religion." Beware of ANY religion that says their way in the ONLY way.
There is a spiritual quality to life that we all tend to ignore. Focus on your spirit and the qualities of Nature.
There is no heaven or hell. How you behave creates your own heaven or hell. We all know inside ourselves that stealing and killing is a mistake.

Organized religion is bad. imo. Church is where you worship and pray. I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I believe that Mohammad was a prophet and I can see how other religions tie in together. I won't hurt anyone over my beliefs and I won't force my belief's on other people. If they ask my opinion I'll tell them, but what happens in the end is between me and God.
I think the Catholic Church has messed soo much stuff up that it's rediculous, and I believe that fanatical Muslims retaliate against political actions, it's all a mess. Individually, everyone is cool and fine.

I don't like religion. I don't like it, because I can't understand it, and when I can't understand something, I get frustrated with it.
How you can put your faith in something so easily? Someone you've never seen, never heard before, someone who may not even exist or even care about you, based on what some BOOK says?
I just don't get it. I can't put that much on the line for something that may not be there. I'd rather put my faith in someone worth believing in, like my friends and family.
Life's far too precious and short to be worrying about what some god thinks of you.

Religion is man's attempt to reach God. It is man making the rules and working by his own means and will and intellect to try to comprehend a God he does not know. Christianity was never meant to be a religion. It is a relationship. You become a part of a divine family. God is my FAther and I am His child. He loves me unconditionally.

Religion is overrated. People should just be loving and kind to everyone. They should also stop pushing their religion to those who don't want to hear about it.
