The only way to find record of his papers is to know the dam's registered name, as well as the name of the breeder, and his month of birth. You won't actually GET the papers, without a signed application from the breeder, but you can learn if there is a record of him being registered. ..IF, and that's a big IF, you happened to get a friendly staff on the phone or Internet. I will post the contact info, if you will check back.

I assume that you mean registered. If he is registered, the breeder should have the papers. If not, then he may be pure bred and not registered. In order to find out, you need the sire and dame AKC registration #'s and track from there. Check with AKC, but I don't think you will get far. If a person tells you that the dog is registered then you should be given papers to that effect and you can transfer him from their name to yours with the proper paperwork from the people you got him from.

Certified for what? Do you mean registered? Whoever the dog is registered to, they are the only one that can transfer ownership over to you. The breeder can give you pedigree information, but they cannot request replacement registration papers to register the dog in your name if he is already registered to someone else.

Try contacting the 'dog association' that gave the dog his 'first papers' ... tell them 'everything' that you can about the dog and his 'first owners' and the breeder's name if you have it ... but you may have to do this 'by snail-mail' if the 'association' does not have a 'website' with an 'email address' for you to do it online.

Are you sure it's with the AKC, or CKC a certified registrating body? If it is with one of the other so called registries, it still doesn't mean that your dog is purebred or certified or registered at all.

The only way to get the papers is from the people who bred the dog.
