I also have the places I took the pictures from. I am trying to put together a slide show and I need to know if I could use the pictures and just give credit to them.

You cannot use any image taken from the internet for profit or have images printed out for personal use unless you have written consent from the original photographer. However, if you use them for personal uses, then yes, you can use them, as long as credit is given to the site and photographer the pictures were taken from. Its a matter of respect as well.

Depending on what the slide show is for. If it is for school than just do a bibliography. But if it for somthing else like work than you should probably give credit to the original place that you found the pictures.

If the photos are explicitly listed as public domain, it is probably okay. If the photos appear to have any copyrighting or have warnings on the website, then it is probably not okay. Most serious photographers know to protect their work and are aware that anything they put on the internet is fair game to anyone, despite warnings. Sophisticated photographers will embedd a hidden watermark that can be used for litigation if you are caught using their images without permission...but they will usually warn you of this on their website.

You have to give a reference to the artist if you use them publically and if you intend to profit off of them you must have the written permission of the copyright owner.

It depends on what you're using it for...definitely don't if you'll be profiting from it.

Most photos have some type of copyright on them unless they're over 50 years old...then they're public domain.
