It was a matter of cheap available parts and donor cars originally, now it is just because it is popular. Some other makes that have been rodded a lot are Willys and Mercury. There are plenty of Chevrolet rods, but they became popular aftre the war.

Its all a matter of opinion and economics. Ford made some excellent cars, although parts are a bit more expensive, and not all that interchangeable. However the most bang for the buck would have to go to chevy, and their excellent small block design. (all the parts are interchangable from the 283-400 cid engines. Ford's 5 liter is a wonderful design, however it has way too many quirks. they are also dirt cheap just like the sbc

The 427's were unequaled in their time . I would credit ford with advancing the ball on all aspects of automobile technology , at least until the early seventys when profit overcame pride.
