I want to quit also and have tried 'cold turkey', the patch, the gum, etc. My doc just gave me a prescription for Chantix and after doing some research it looks promising! It's not an anti-depressant like Zyban was, it works on the receptors in your brain that crave the nicotine to make it easier to quit. It's expensive, our insurance doesn't cover it. It's $125 a month and they suggest you stay on it 12 weeks or longer. The worst side effect I've heard about is nausea. I'm going to give it try! Hope you are able to quit! I wish you luck!!

I started Chantix about 2 weeks ago and have already cut my smoking in half. The only side effects I've noticed are a little nausea after taking it and waking up with a headache. The side effects are nothing compared to suffering with cancer. Call your Doc and give it a try. I've had 3 friends to quit with this pill after only 2 months. By the way, my insurance did pay for it and it works slightly different than Zyban. Look it up. Best Wishes!!!

I'm going on two months now.

the patch did wonders of breaking the addiction. I only needed it for about a week. The first few days are the hardest. it's a lot cheaper than the cigarettes in the long run.

decide that you're a 'non smoker' put a patch on, get some jolly ranchers and mints for the 'craving', drink lots of water.

I smoked for 15 years and it wasn't too bad... the key component is having the mindset.

I DID NOT HAVE TO SPEND ANY MONEY MAKING THE GREEDY MEDICAL PEOPLE RICH WITH THOSE sill patches and other stupid money making tricks they have! and i have been off them for 15 years, and am healthy again! if i can do it, anyone can! unless they are a weak willed fool who wants to make the medical people rich!

Its a new "stop smoking" medicine and it works very well... one side effect is that you have very very vivid dreams, which could be good or bad.
